Call for involvement in 'Youth in Transition Programme'

“Following the publication of our report “Supporting vulnerable young people in transition” in January this year, Quartet Community Foundation is now moving towards developing a programme of support for vulnerable young people.  We would like to hear from community groups and organizations who are contributing to this kind of work and to hear from them what they may be able to do in terms of working with young people to improve their situation during periods of change.

Bath & North East Somerset Grassroots Grants Programme Complete
We are delighted to say that we have completed our Grassroots Grants programme in Bath and North East Somerset, successfully spending three years of grant allocations from this Government Scheme. Over 70 grants were made totalling just over £190,000 to grassroots groups in B&NES. Grassroots Grants is now closed for applications in B&NES.

We currently have two vacancies for Trustees

We aim to achieve a balanced and diverse Board, with a mix of skills, interests, experience and contacts. Trustees normally live or work in the Community Foundation's area of benefit (Bristol, Bath and North East Somerset, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire).

We welcome our new Chair and CEO

Stephen Parsons, Chair and Deb Appleby, CEODeb Appleby has been appointed by Trustees as our new Chief Executive and she took up her position on 12 July 2010.  Her appointment coincides with the arrival of our new Chair of Trustees, Stephen Parsons, who started in his new role on 1 July 2010.

Deb had been Head of Policy and Performance at Dorset County Council since 2005.  She spent her early career in Bristol as a chartered accountant before moving to run Bristol Common Purpose and chairing Barton Hill Settlement.

Annual Celebration events in Bristol and Bath

This year we held events in Bristol at the Lloyds Banking Group building and in Bath at the Lecture Hall in the Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases in Upper Borough Walls.

These events allowed community and voluntary groups working in the heart of local communities to meet with fundholders and donors who have supported their work.

Projects attending came from across the West of England and had all received grant support in 2008/09.
