Q
|
Is Quartet Community Foundation part of the local authority?
|
| A |
No.
The Community Foundation is an independent charity that facilitates
grant giving in the local area. We run our own grants programmes but
also manage and administer grants programmes for other organisations.
|
| Q |
Do we have to be a registered
charity to apply for a grant? |
| A |
No, as long as the purpose of your group is charitable and run by a committee
of people. You will need to show us up-to-date financial information in
the form of accounts or, if you are a new group, an estimated budget for
the first year.
|
| Q |
Do you make grants to individuals? |
| A |
In
general we do not make grants to individuals. However, we have a few
specific grants programmes that do make grants to individuals. These
are: the RW Barnes Educational Fund Grants Programme and the Stoke Park
Friends Fund Grants programme.
|
| Q |
Can a national charity apply for a grant? |
| A |
The community foundation gives priority to small, local charities and
voluntary groups whose work benefits people in the West of England. However,
national charities with a significant local presence can apply if the grant
will make a difference to local people.
|
| Q |
Can I apply to more than one grants programme at one time? |
| A |
We
discourage groups from sending in duplicate applications to different
grants programmes. However, you can apply to different grants
programmes as long as you meet the criteria for
each grants programme and make a good case for submitting multiple
applications.
|
| Q |
Is their a limit to the amount of times the Community Foundation will fund an organisation?
|
A
|
It will depend upon the grants
programme. We generally encourage groups to diversify their fundraising
as much as possible. We are a small grants provider and cannot commit to
the sustained funding of an organisation. In the case of the Express
Grants Programme, the Community Foundation will generally suggest that
an organisation seek other sources of funding if they have received
three consecutive grants from the programme.
|
| Q |
When will we hear the result of our grant
application? |
| A |
It will
depend upon the grants programme. Generally we aim to get a decision
back to groups around 4-6 weeks after receiving the full application.
|
| Q |
Will you monitor our grant? |
| A |
Yes. We will ask you to report back on how the grant has been spent and
what has been achieved. We will contact you after six months for a progress
report.
|
| Q |
Who decides whether or not we receive a
grant? |
| A |
Your application will be assessed initially by one our grants officers
who may contact you for more information or to arrange a visit. Many of
the grants programmes we run have an advisory panel, made up of Trustees and people
from the local community with relevant skills, knowledge and experience,
who will then make the final decision.
|
Q
|
Are there any conditions when grants are awarded?
|
| A |
Yes.
Please see the full Grants Policies and Procedures section for an
example of the grant conditions. If your group is offered a grant they
will receive a copy of the grant conditions with the offer letter and
grant acceptance form. If you sign and return the grant acceptance form
you agree to the Community Foundation's grant conditions
|
