Our Aims and Values

Quartet Community Foundation has core aims relating to what we do and how we do it.

Core aims

  • Effective grant-making
which responds to the needs of community-based organisations in our focus area of benefits
  • Fund development - revenue and endowment
which provides current and prospective donors with relevant opportunities for giving and consolidates our endowment as a basis for long term, sustainable charitable funding
  • Being a catalyst for positive change
and providing community leadership to help solve local problems

These will be achieved by more effective communication with our supporters through traditional and new conduits. We aim to:

  • Become a more visible and recognised part of the regional fabric for charitable giving
  • Maintain high standards of governance
  • Continue to strengthen the Community Foundation Network

Our near term aim as we celebrated our 25th Anniversary on November 26th 2011 is to engage with and energise the next generation of Quartet Community Foundation donors and supporters.

Our values are set out below and underpin all of our work:

Professional

We take pride in providing a high quality service to both donors and grant recipients

Trusted

People from local community groups, the business world, families and local authorities seek us out for advice and brokerage when they are trying to make things happen

Cost effective

our services offer good value for money and are regularly subject to evaluation

Local

We care about the lives of people in our many communities and have built up a wealth of local knowledge which allows us to match donations to local needs

Permanent

Quartet Community Foundation is a stable organisation that is financially strong, well-managed and able to provide grants in perpetuity benefitting generations to come

Flexible

both in our work with donors and our approach to grant-making, putting the needs of people first

Responsive

We listen to and learn from the communities we serve, so that we can improve the impact of our work

Our 'express' grants programme is an open access programme which assesses grant applications within 6 weeks of receipt for amounts of up to £2,000.  We aim to fund between 60 and 70% of the applications that we receive.
